got stopped by security at the airport with my drone batteries, what a mess

okay so this just happened yesterday and im still kind of annoyed about it. flew into barcelona and on the way back through the airport security pulled my whole bag apart because of the lipo batteries. i had three of them in my carry on in a lipo safe bag like you're supposed to and they still made me take everything out and go through this whole thing with a supervisor.

eventually they let me through but it took like 25 minutes and i nearly missed my boarding. the thing is ive done this exact same setup through like 6 other airports no problem. is it just pot luck with which security person you get or am i doing something wrong. do people actually tape over the contacts or is that just overkill

yeah its 100% luck of the draw with who you get. ive had the same batteries waved through in tokyo and then almost confiscated in miami by someone who clearly had no idea what they were looking at. taping the contacts is not overkill imo, i do it every time now and i also print out the airline's own battery policy page and keep it in the bag. having something to show them in writing does actually help sometimes
