my DroneDeploy mission just stopped halfway through and now i have a gap right in the middle of my site

this is genuinely driving me crazy. flying a M3E on a construction site, planned a crosshatch mission at 80m with 75/75 overlap, everything looked fine in the app, first pass goes great and then somewhere around the 60% mark the drone just returns to home. no warning i noticed, battery was at like 52% when it landed

tried to resume the mission but DD didnt offer a resume option it just wanted me to restart the whole thing. so i manually flew the remaining section with a separate mission but the overlap between the two flights is off and now theres this really obvious seam through the middle of the orthomosaic where the lighting changed between flights because of course a cloud came over

client wants the deliverable tomorrow and im trying to figure out if i can fix this in processing or if i need to go back out. the GCPs are solid at least so the geometry should be fine its really just the color inconsistency

the lighting seam thing is mostly fixable in post if you have the right tools. if youre processing in pix4d you can mess with the radiometric calibration settings and sometimes blending mode changes h

ugh yeah DD resume has been broken or just missing in certain versions for a while, its been a complaint on their forum too. kind of inexcusable for a professional mapping tool tbh for the color seam

the lighting seam thing is mostly fixable in post if you have the right tools. if youre processing in pix4d you can mess with the radiometric calibration settings and sometimes blending mode changes help, but honestly for a quick turnaround QGIS with the OTB plugin or even just bringing the tiles into something like Lightroom as a mosaic and doing a gradient correction can get you close enough that a client wont notice unless theyre really scrutinizing it

the DD abort thing has happened to me too and i still dont fully understand why it does it sometimes. i think there might be a geofence or altitude warning that triggers silently on some firmware versions with the M3E, worth checking the flight logs in the DJI app after the fact to see if there was an error code

for the color seam i'd just be upfront with the client honestly, if they're using the orthomosaic for volume calculations or progress tracking the geometry is whats important and a lighting difference between two flights doesnt affect the measurements. ive had clients not even notice once i explained what they should actually be looking at
