BetaFPV Pavo vs Iflight Nazgul for someone coming from 3 inch whoops

  • Members

ok so context - ive been flying 2.5 and 3 inch whoops indoors for about 8 months and im ready to move to something bigger that i can actually fly outside properly. been looking at the Iflight Nazgul Evoque F5 and the BetaFPV Pavo35 and i cant decide. the Pavo is a bit cheaper but im seeing mixed things about the build quality, some people say the ducts are fragile and others say theyve had no issues

my main thing is i want something that can handle some mild freestyle but also i do a lot of slower proximity flying around trees and stuff so it doesnt need to be a race quad. i dont have a ton of space to do big open field rips. also already have a decent soldering setup and betaflight experience so im not scared of doing some tuning, just dont want something that needs major surgery before it flies well

anyone gone through a similar decision or owned both of these

had the Nazgul Evoque for a while and it really is a good prebuilt for the money. mine needed very little tuning, just tweaked the rates to match what im used to and adjusted idle up slightly. the motors on it are solid, ive crashed that thing hard more than once and nothing major broke. if youre coming from indoor whoops the transition to 5 inch is gonna feel like a lot regardless of which one you pick tbh, just make sure youre flying somewhere with some space because the power difference is significant

cant really comment on the Pavo35 directly but from what ive read the ducts cracking is more of a problem if you're doing aggressive flying, for proximity stuff it might be totally fine

pavo35 owner here, had mine since last spring. the duct thing is slightly exagerated online imo. ive cracked one duct in like 40 packs of flying and it was a pretty nasty concrete hit. for tree gaps and that kind of slow technical stuff it holds up fine. the tune out of the box was actually one of the better prebuilt tunes ive flown, surprised me. only thing i really changed was throttle expo and some filter stuff because i run different props than stock
