Avata 2 vs original Avata - is it actually worth the upgrade or am i just gassing myself up

So ive had the original Avata since basically launch and put maybe 80+ hours on it, mostly indoor flying in warehouses and some light outdoor stuff with the goggles 2. Its been solid honestly, had one crash that cracked a prop guard and thats it. But the Avata 2 has been sitting in my cart for like 3 weeks now and i cant decide.

The main thing pulling me is the obstacle avoidance and what people are saying about the stabilization improvements but i genuinely cant tell if thats just the usual DJI hype cycle or if its a real meaningful difference for the kind of flying i do. I dont do crazy acro, mostly cinematic slow pushes through tight spaces, architecture stuff occasionally. Anyone actually switched over from v1 to v2 and noticed a real world difference in footage quality or is the original still plenty capable for that use case.

Honestly made the switch about 4 months ago and for what you're describing - slow cinematic, tight spaces - the Avata 2 is noticeably better. The image quality jump is real, not just spec sheet stuff.

Honestly made the switch about 4 months ago and for what you're describing - slow cinematic, tight spaces - the Avata 2 is noticeably better. The image quality jump is real, not just spec sheet stuff. Colors feel less processed out of the box and the dynamic range handles indoor mixed lighting way better than the original did. The obstacle avoidance is genuinely useful for indoor work too, saved me from a few close calls in a spot I hadnt fully scouted. That said if you're already color grading heavily in post and your footage from the v1 is working for clients, hard to justify the spend just for that.
