so ive had the mini 4 pro since around october and i figured id share some real thoughts now that the honeymoon phase is definitely over. first off yeah the footage is genuinely great, i was coming from a mini 2 and the difference in low light is pretty noticeable. the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance is also something i didnt realize id rely on so much until i was flying through some trees on a windy day and it just kind of saved me from myself.

but heres the thing nobody really talks about ? the battery life is still just okay. like DJI says 34 minutes but in any kind of wind youre looking at maybe 22-25 realistic minutes and the battery drains faster than youd expect when youre doing active track stuff. also the RC2 controller is genuinely nice but i had one firmware update that just bricked the screen for like two days and i had to do a full controller reset which was mildly terrifying.

overall i think its worth it IF you actually need the obstacle avoidance and shoot a lot at dawn/dusk. if you mostly fly in open fields in good light the mini 2 SE is honestly probably fine and saves you like $400. just my two cents after actually using the thing a lot.

this pretty much mirrors my experience too. the low light thing is real, i shot some stuff at golden hour last month and it looked way better than what my buddy was getting on his older mini 2. the wind battery drain is a bit annoying but i just learned to fly with two batteries as the minimum.

one thing id add is the subject tracking got a lot better after one of the recent firmware updates, it used to lose me constantly when i was mountain biking but its way more sticky now. still not perfect on fast stuff but its usable. the price is tough to swallow though, cant really argue with that.

im actually in the middle of deciding between this and the Air 3 and posts like this are genuinely helpful, the marketing stuff tells you nothing. my main thing is im mostly shooting real estate so i dont really need crazy tracking, just good stable footage and easy operation. sounds like maybe the mini 4 pro is fine for that but i keep second guessing myself because the Air 3 sensor is bigger. anyone gone through this same decision
