iflight chimera7 vs nazgul evoque for someone coming from 5 inch

  • Members

ok so ive been flying 5 inch freestyle for about 2 years, built my own stuff the whole time, and im looking at getting into a 7 inch long range type setup for some open field flying and maybe some light cruising. ive narrowed it down to either the iflight chimera7 pro or the nazgul evoque f7 mostly because both seem like complete packages and i dont really want to source all the long range specific stuff myself this time around.

main thing im trying to figure out is which one handles better at the kind of slower more floaty flying that 7 inch is supposed to be good at. im used to snappy 5 inch freestyle so im expecting an adjustment period either way but i dont want something that feels like flying a school bus. also the GPS rescue stuff matters to me since ill be flying further out than im used to. anyone gone through this exact comparison or switched from 5 to 7 inch and has thoughts?

the evoque f7 is what i ended up with after going back and forth on basically this same decision. coming from 5 inch it does feel sluggish at first but after a few packs you kind of recalibrate and start to appreciate how it just glides. the tune on it wasnt great out of the box for me, felt a bit mushy in the rolls, i ended up dropping master multiplier and raising D a fair bit and it tightened up nicely. GPS rescue worked first try which was a relief because i dont fully trust my own ability to not panic and fly it into a lake.

cant speak to the chimera7 directly but ive heard the arms on the evoque are noticeably more solid which matters on a 7 inch because crashes tend to be more consequential when the thing weighs as much as it does.

tbh neither of them are going to feel snappy like a 5 inch thats just physics, youre pushing way more air. i tried to tune my 7 inch to be more responsive and just ended up with prop wash issues that took forever to fix. just let it be what it is and enjoy the efficiency, thats kind of the whole point of going bigger. the chimera7 is fine i think but i havent flown one personally, just seen a few threads about the FC placement being annoying for maintenance
