okay so i bought a DJI Mini 2 like three days ago because my buddy kept saying i should get into this hobby and honestly i kind of panicked and just ordered one without doing much research. flew it for maybe 10 minutes in my backyard yesterday and nearly took out my fence twice. the controls feel super weird to me, like i keep overcorrecting and then overcorrecting the overcorrection if that makes sense.

is there some way i'm supposed to be practicing or do most people just kind of figure it out by crashing a bunch? also i turned on some stabilization thing in the app but i dont really know what it did. should i just leave everything on default for now?

yeah keep everything on default for a while, seriously. i made the mistake of going into all the settings right away and messing with expo curves and sensitivity sliders and it just made things worse because i didnt have a baseline feel for anything yet. the Mini 2 is pretty forgiving stock, just leave it alone and go fly somewhere with a lot of open space, not a backyard. a park or a field where you can actually let it drift a bit without immediately panicking about hitting something.

the overcorrecting thing goes away, it just takes time. your hands are trying too hard basically. try hovering in one spot for like 5 minutes straight without touching anything and then slowly do small inputs. boring as hell but it actually helps your thumbs learn what small movements feel like on the sticks.

im pretty new too so take this with a grain of salt but i watched a ton of youtube videos before my first flight and it helped alot. there's some guy who does beginner tutorials specifically for the Mini series and he breaks down what all the modes do. i think the stabilization thing you mentioned might be ATTI mode or tripod mode? not totally sure actually. anyway yeah open space is good advice, i basically ruined a flower bed my first week lol
