so ive had the Air 3 for about a year now and honestly i love it, no real complaints. but the Air 3S came out and now im doing that thing where i keep reading reviews at 1am trying to convince myself i need it

my main use is landscape photography, some slow cinematic video when i feel like it, nothing crazy. i dont do events or paid work or anything like that. the sensor upgrade on the 3S looks genuinely impressive but im not sure how much of that i'd actually notice in the stuff i shoot. like on a tripod equivalent shot on a calm day does that extra low light performance even matter

anyone actually gone from the Air 3 to the 3S and noticed a real difference in their landscape shots or is this just classic gear acquisition syndrome talking

honest answer? if your Air 3 footage is already making you happy, the 3S isnt going to change your life. i made the jump a couple months ago and the low light stuff is genuinely better, like shooting golden hour into dusk you get cleaner files for sure. but on a bright day shooting mountains or whatever the difference in the final edit is pretty subtle unless you're really pushing the shadows hard in post

the thing that actually got me was the variable aperture, being able to stop down without ND stacking is just more convenient in the field. but thats a workflow thing not really a quality thing. if i was shooting landscapes only and happy with what i had, i probably wouldnt have upgraded. but ive also convinced myself of worse things so take that for what its worth

I went through the same debate lol. ended up keeping my Air 3 for now. figured I'd rather put that money toward better ND filters and a decent monitor for my RC2. the footage I'm getting is already better than my skills at editing it so seems silly to upgrade the hardware before I've maxed out what I can do with what I have
