so ive been flying for about 8 months now, started on a tiny whoop and now i want to get into proper 5 inch freestyle. everyone keeps telling me to build my own but honestly the soldering and parts sourcing stuff is kind of overwhelming when youre trying to figure out what even goes together. like i spent 3 hours last week just trying to understand stack mounting and whether i need a 30x30 or 20x20 and i still dont fully get it

been looking at the iflight nazgul evoque and the diatone roma f5 as prebuilts. the iflight stuff seems really popular but ive also seen a lot of people say the quality control is hit or miss. anyone actually running one of those day to day? vs like spending the same money on parts and building something from scratch ? is the flying experience actually different or am i overthinking this

honestly the prebuilt vs custom debate is a bit overblown these days. the nazgul evoque f5 v2 is a genuinely solid quad out of the box, ive had mine for like 6 months and the only thing i changed was the props cause the stock ones chipped faster than i liked. the motors are decent, tune isnt bad either though i did end up running betaflight and adjusting the master multiplier a bit after a few weeks.

that said if you ever crash hard and need to troubleshoot, knowing how it was built matters a lot. so even if you go prebuilt id say at minimum learn to resolder motor wires and swap ESCs cause thats basically the stuff that dies first. the iflight QC thing is real btw ? a buddy got one with a motor that had a bent shaft right out of the box but support sorted him out

i went prebuilt for my first 5inch and dont regret it at all. youll learn the parts eventually just by fixing things when they break lol
