weird jello effect only shows up at certain altitudes, not sure if its gimbal or props

this has been bugging me for weeks. so the footage looks totally clean on takeoff and landing, and also when im up high like above 80 meters or so. but in this weird middle range, maybe 30 to 60 meters, i get this jello effect that shows up in the video, pretty subtle but definitely there once you know to look for it.

camera is a Sony ZV-E10 on a 3-axis brushless gimbal, nothing fancy but its been solid until recently. frame is a 5-inch, running 5045 triblade props. i dont think ive changed anything hardware wise but i did flash new firmware on the FC a couple months ago which is around when i first noticed it maybe? hard to say.

the gimbal dampening balls look fine visually but ive never actually replaced them. wondering if its a resonance thing at certain throttle levels that happen to correspond to that altitude band. or could it be the electronic shutter interacting with something. i shoot at 1/100 usually which should be fine for 50fps but maybe thats related somehow

classic resonance issue. certain throttle levels create vibration frequencies that match up with whatever the natural frequency of your gimbal mount is, thats why it only shows up in a specific band. first thing id do is swap out the dampening balls for fresh ones, they degrade and get stiffer over time even if they look ok. go slightly softer than what you have now and see if it shifts the problem range or eliminates it.

also check if your props are balanced, triblades are more prone to introducing harmonics than standard two blade if even one blade is slightly off. i use a cheap prop balancer and it made a noticeable difference on a similar setup. the firmware change is probably a coincidence but you could roll it back to rule it out if nothing else works.

electronic shutter can definitely cause banding or skew artifacts but jello is almost always mechanical, vibration getting into the sensor. that said ive seen cases where a loose USB cable touching the gimbal arm at certain orientations caused something that looked similar, sounds dumb but worth checking everything is actually secured properly before going down the resonance rabbit hole
