quad feels mushy on rolls after reflash, cant figure out whats off

so anyway i finally got around to flashing to betaflight 4.4 and now the whole quad just feels... wrong. like its not oscillating or anything obviously broken, it flies fine i guess, but rolls especially feel mushy and delayed compared to before. its hard to describe. like its thinking about it before it does it.

i didnt save my diff before flashing like an idiot so i cant just go back to my old tune. been messing with the rates and i think its a filtering thing maybe? or maybe i just got used to the 4.3 defaults and the 4.4 defaults are just different. im on a 5inch with 2306 motors, F7 FC. tried bumping up D gains a bit which helped a tiny bit but now im second guessing everything

anyone else notice a difference going to 4.4 or did i just break something in the process

4.4 defaults are actually pretty different from 4.3, the filtering setup changed and i think RPM filter behavior got tweaked too. first thing id check is whether your RPM filter is actually configured correctly after the flash ? if your ESC telemetry isnt set up right the filtering can make everything feel sluggish. also check your master multiplier wasnt reset to something weird.

the mushy roll feeling is almost always a D term thing or filtering being too aggressive. try dropping the D lowpass filter frequency up a bit (higher number = less filtering = sharper feel) and see if that gets you closer to what you remember. its tedious but just start from a known good baseline tune someone posted for your motor combo and work from there rather than guessing
