been looking at the DJI Neo since it dropped and i have genuinely mixed feelings. on one hand the whole idea of a drone you can basically just throw in the air and it figures itself out is cool and i get why people who aren't into the hobby side would want that. but for the price point it feels like you're paying for the DJI name more than anything else. the footage quality looks decent in good light but anything in lower contrast or shade and it kind of falls apart from what ive seen on youtube.

im coming from a Mini 2 so maybe my expectations are off. does anyone actually own one of these or have you just been watching the same review videos i have

I picked one up a few weeks ago mostly out of curiosity. Honestly it's not aimed at people like us, it's aimed at people who want a flying camera for content and don't want to think about it. For that use case it does a surprisingly decent job. The subject tracking is actually better than I expected and the form factor is genuinely pocket sized.

That said yeah the image quality is not Mini 3 level, not even close in tricky light. If you already have a Mini 2 and you're happy with it I wouldn't bother upgrading to the Neo specifically. Different tools for different situations I guess.

the whole thing kind of reminds me of when the original Mavic Mini came out and everyone said it was too limited. then a year later half the people here had one. DJI is pretty good at making stuff that looks underwhelming on paper but just works in practice. not saying the Neo is definitely that but i wouldnt write it off just from youtube reviews, those guys are almost always flying in perfect conditions anyway
