drone keeps drifting when i let go of the sticks, is that normal??

so i've had maybe 4 or 5 flights now and i feel like i'm getting better but there's this thing that happens where i let go of both sticks and the drone kind of floats sideways a little before it stops. it's not a lot but it's enough to make me nervous especially when i'm flying near anything. is this a calibration thing or is something wrong with it. i calibrated the IMU once already when i first set it up. it's pretty windy where i live most days, like today was probably 12-15mph. not sure if that matters

12-15mph wind is actually enough to push a lighter drone around noticeably, especially if you're flying a mini class aircraft. that's probably most of what you're seeing honestly. the GPS positioning mode does its best to hold position but it's not perfect in gusty conditions, there's a tiny bit of lag before it corrects. if you were in a completely calm environment and it was still doing that then i'd say look at the IMU calibration or maybe compass, but wind is almost certainly the culprit here. try flying on a calmer day and see if it still does it

this was me too when i started lol i thought something was broken. turned out i was just flying in too much wind for a beginner and also i was overcorrecting constantly which made everything feel worse. once i started flying on calmer mornings it was way more predictable and i actually learned faster because i wasnt fighting the weather the whole time. give yourself easier conditions while you're learning, you can mess around in wind later once you know what normal feels like
