so anyway went to my second meetup last weekend, great turnout like maybe 20 people which was cool. but there was this one guy flying way past the agreed boundary and another person who clearly had no idea about the temporary flight restriction that was active like 2 miles away. nobody said anything to them which felt weird. i get that its supposed to be casual and fun but im a little worried about what happens if something goes sideways at these things and the whole group gets blamed. not trying to be the fun police just... idk it made me uneasy. anyone else run into this at meetups?

yeah this is pretty common unfortunatley. the problem is nobody wants to be the guy who calls someone out in front of everyone, especially at a casual meetup. ive seen clubs try to do a quick safety brief at the start which helps a bit but even then some people tune it out. i think the organizer has to set the tone early or it just becomes a free for all

tbh i think most people just dont know, they bought a drone off amazon and have no clue about TFRs or any of that. not excusing it but its hard to be mad when they genuinely have no idea the rules exist. someone just needs to quietly mention it to them, most people are cool about it when you explain nicely rather than making it a whole thing
