Anyone doing actual commercial roof inspections with thermals

  • Members

been flying commercial roof inspections for about 8 months now and wondering what everyone else is using for thermal imaging. currently running a matrice 300 with the h20t but honestly the thermal resolution feels pretty limited for spotting smaller leaks or insulation issues

most of my jobs are big box stores and warehouses so coverage area isnt usually the problem but i keep missing stuff that shows up later when they do manual inspections. anyone found a setup that actually catches the subtle temperature differences or am i just not processing the data right

what kind of post processing you doing? i found that adjusting the thermal palette and contrast in dji thermal analysis really makes a difference. also flying early morning like 6-7am when theres still temperature differential from overnight cooling helps a ton

been doing this for 3 years and honestly the h20t is decent but if you got budget the flir vue pro r or even upgrading to something with higher resolution sensor makes it way easier to spot issues

so anyway i just started getting into this and wondering if you need any special certifications beyond part 107 for roof inspections? also what do you typically charge per sqft or is it more like a flat rate thing

sorry to hijack but cant find good info anywhere and you seem to know what your doing
