so i keep reading conflicting stuff about where you can and cant fly. the faa says one thing but then ny has their own rules? i wanted to take my mini 2 to some state parks upstate this weekend but now im not sure if thats even legal. does anyone know if state parks are off limits or is that just national parks

also do i need to register with the state or just the faa? this is all so confusing

yeah state laws can definitely override federal ones when it comes to where you can fly. most state parks ive looked into dont allow drones at all, you'd have to check each parks specific rules. ny is pretty strict from what i remember. national parks are a hard no everywhere but state parks vary by state

registration is just federal through faa though, dont think any states have their own registration yet

i made this mistake last year at letchworth state park - ranger came over and told me no drones allowed period. had to pack up and leave. now i always call ahead or check their website first cause some parks will have specific areas where its ok but most just ban them completely
