so im planning a trip from colorado to utah next month and want to bring my mini 3 pro. do the drone laws change when you cross state lines or is it all just federal FAA stuff? i know about the part 107 but wasnt sure if states have their own restrictions that could get me in trouble. anyone done multi state flights before

yeah states can definitely have their own rules on top of the federal ones. like california has some pretty strict stuff about flying near certain areas and i think utah has rules about national parks which is probably what youll run into. the FAA stuff follows you everywhere but you gotta check local laws too. i use the b4ufly app but honestly it doesnt always catch the state specific things

oh man i learned this the hard way last summer. got stopped by park rangers in arizona even tho my flight was totally legal according to faa rules but apparently there was some local ordinance i didnt know about. nothing serious happened but was definitely awkward. now i always try to research the specific areas im going to ahead of time but its honestly pretty confusing how all the different levels of rules work together
