so im heading to lisbon and then renting a car to drive down to the algarve coast and ive been trying to figure out the drone rules there for like two weeks now and honestly its a mess. the ANAC website is half in portuguese and the google translate version doesnt really help. from what i can tell you need to register your drone if its over 250g which mine is (mavic 3) and theres some kind of operator ID thing but i cant figure out if thats separate from the US trust cert or whatever. anyone actually flown there recently and knows what the actual deal is on the ground? also curious about the coastal cliffs down south, seen some insane footage from that area

flew algarve last october and it was genuinely one of the best places ive ever flown. the cliffs around ponta da piedade are just unreal, nothing else like it. registration wise i just got my EU drone

not portugal specifically but i did spain last year and the rules are pretty similar across the EU now with the EASA stuff. the operator ID registration is like 5 euros or something and covers you acr

flew algarve last october and it was genuinely one of the best places ive ever flown. the cliffs around ponta da piedade are just unreal, nothing else like it. registration wise i just got my EU drone operator ID before i went, took maybe 20 minutes online through the portuguese ANAC portal, they have an english option buried in there somewhere. had zero issues. didnt get stopped once but i was also being pretty sensible about where i launched from, avoided the busy beach areas during midday

not portugal specifically but i did spain last year and the rules are pretty similar across the EU now with the EASA stuff. the operator ID registration is like 5 euros or something and covers you across most of europe which is actually pretty handy. just dont fly near the airports obviously and the national parks usually have their own restrictions on top of the standard rules so worth checking each spot individually
