this is kind of embarrassing to post but i see peoples clips on here and on youtube and they just look so cinematic and mine always look kind of flat and dull even when the conditions are good. im shooting in the same modes i think, 4k 30fps, and i do have ND filters. i dont really shoot in log because i tried it once and the footage looked awful and i couldnt fix it in editing.

maybe its my editing software? im using davinci resolve free version. or maybe its just that my locations are boring, i live in a pretty flat area with not much going on. idk just frustrated i guess

log footage is supposed to look awful straight out of the camera thats literally the whole point lol, you have to apply a LUT or manually adjust the curves first before it looks like anything. if you were judging it without doing that step then yeah it would look completely washed out. resolve free version is totally fine btw, plenty of people use it professionally

flat terrain is genuinely hard to work with, not gonna sugarcoat it. i moved from the midwest to colorado and the difference in footage quality was night and day and i barely changed anything technically. that said shadows and leading lines help a lot even in flat areas, roads, rivers, tree lines, anything that gives the eye somewhere to go. also what time of day are you flying because midday light is pretty much always going to look flat no matter what you do
