so anyway we finally organized a group flight after talking about it in our discord for like two months. got maybe 8 people to show up which i thought was pretty good. first hour was great, everyone was flying around this open field near the reservoir and vibes were good

but then someone brought up airspace and one guy who i guess is pretty serious about the rules started getting on everyone about flying without remote ID and two people just packed up and left. then the wind picked up and another two left. ended with like 4 of us standing around talking about gear for an hour which honestly wasnt the worst outcome but still

anyone else had their meetups just kinda... deflate like that? wondering if theres a better way to organize these so they dont fall apart halfway through

the remote ID thing is going to keep coming up at these events, might as well just get everyone on the same page before showing up. not worth the drama mid-flight. we started doing a quick group chat checkin the night before where someone just confirms everybodys compliant and it cuts down on the awkward confrontations

tbh the standing around talking about gear part IS the meetup for a lot of people haha. ive been to a few where barely anyone flew and we just geeked out for 3 hours. still worth it. the wind thing is just bad luck, cant plan around that
