group flights are kind of awkward tbh

so i finally went to one of those local drone meetups everyone talks about and it was fine i guess but also kind of weird? like everyone was super nice but theres this unspoken thing where you dont really know when its your turn to fly or if youre in somebodys shot. one guy had a massive phantom 4 and was just hovering right in the middle of the field the whole time. i dunno, maybe im used to just going out alone and doing my own thing. did get some good tips on ND filters from a guy there so wasnt a total waste, and i think theyre doing another one in the spring. might try again with lower expectations

haha the phantom guy is at every single meetup i swear its like a law. honestly the first one is always a bit awkward, by the third or fourth time you go you kind of figure out the unwritten rules of who flies when. most groups settle into a natural rotation once people know eachother a little.

the ones ive been to usually have someone who kind of informally runs things and keeps it from being chaos but yeah if theres no one doing that it gets messy fast. one meetup i went to two guys almost flew into each other because nobody was communicating altitudes. nothing happened but it was close enough to make everyone a bit quiet for a few minutes
