just got back from a meeting with the county ag department and they're adding even more restrictions on spray operations. now they want 500ft buffer from any residential areas which basically kills half my potential contracts. understnad the safety concerns but some of these rules seem like they were written by people who have never actually operated a spray drone

anyone else dealing with this kind of regulatory creep in their area? starting to think traditional ground rigs might be less hassle even though they cant handle wet fields like we can

yeah its getting bad here in ohio too. had to turn down a sweet contract last month because of new setback requirements. thing is ground sprayers can work right up to property lines but we cant fly within 500ft? makes no sense when our drift potential is actually lower with proper planning

might be unpopular opinion but some of the regulations make sense. seen too many cowboy operators giving the rest of us a bad name. that said 500ft does seem excessive for smaller residential areas, maybe 200ft would be more reasonable compromise
