so ive been doing monthly progress shots for a mid-size construction company, mostly orthomosaics and some 3d models to show the client how things are moving along. been using DroneDeploy for about a year and its fine, does the job, but the subscription cost is getting harder to justify especially when the work isnt always consistent month to month.
started looking at Pix4D and honestly the processing seems more robust, like i can actually tweak the point cloud generation parameters which DD just kind of hides from you. but the learning curve is real and some of my deliverables need to be pretty quick turnaround.
curious what other people doing actual commercial mapping work are running. is anyone bouncing between both depending on the project or have you just committed to one. also wondering if the pix4d annual license is worth it if youre not doing this full time
