yeah so this has been bugging me for a while. i tried to set up an informal meetup with some people from this forum and a local facebook group, had like 14 people say they were coming and only 3 showed up. one of those was my buddy who i basically dragged there. i picked a good spot, cleared it with the city and everything, posted reminders. not sure if people just flake on this stuff or if i did something wrong with the organizing. thinking about trying again but honestly feeling a bit burnt out on it. anyone had better luck getting people to actually commit to these things

thats just how it goes man. online RSVPs mean nothing, if you want people to actually show up you need like a smaller more personal invite. i cap mine at like 6 people and text them directly the day before. 14 is way too many to coordinate, half of them probably forgot they even said yes

ugh i feel this, organized something similar last spring and had the same problem. i think part of it is people dont take informal stuff seriously, like if theres no entry fee or no real commitment they just bail when sunday morning rolls around and its cloudy or whatever. maybe try tying it to something, like a local club event or a picnic after so theres more reason to actually be there
