flying in Iceland next month, any tips?

so im heading to Iceland in about 5 weeks and obviously bringing the mini 4 pro. ive been doing a ton of reading about the rules there and honestly its kind of confusing. from what i can tell you need to register with the Icelandic Transport Authority and get an operator ID but some posts i found were from like 2021 and im not sure if anything has changed since then. also a lot of the places i want to fly like near Skógafoss and some of the national parks seem to have their own rules on top of the national stuff. anyone been there recently? did you actually get hassled by anyone or is it pretty chill once youre out in the landscape

went last september, did the ring road over about 12 days. honestly for the most part nobody bothered me at all, most places were so remote there wasnt anyone around anyway. skogafoss itself was packed with tourists so i just waited til early morning like 6am and it was nearly empty, got some insane shots. the national park rules are real though, vatnajokull for example you genuinely cannot fly without a permit and they do have rangers. i just avoided those spots or flew just outside the boundaries. registration wise yeah you do need to do the EASA stuff since Iceland follows those regs, took me like 20 minutes online before i left

wind is the thing nobody warns you about enough. like i thought i was prepared and then got my mavic 3 pushed around like crazy near the south coast. def check forecasts obsessively and maybe add an extra day buffer in your itinerary for weather windows because some days are just a complete write off
