so ive been flying for about 8 months now mostly just taking photos but i started trying to do video and honestly its kind of humbling. like i thought it would translate over but nope. even when its calm out and i feel like im flying smooth the footage just looks... jerky? not like full on shaky but just not that floaty butter look you see on youtube.

im on a mini 3 pro, no additional gimbal or anything its just the built in one. shooting in normal mode not sport. i tried slowing down my movements but i still cant figure out what im doing wrong. is it a settings thing or is it just practice or what

ok so a few things that helped me a ton when i was getting that same choppy look. first check what shutter speed youre using. the rule of thumb is 2x your frame rate so if youre shooting 30fps your shutter should be around 1/60. a lot of people shoot with shutter way too fast and it makes motion look strobey and unnatural. you might need an ND filter to pull that down in bright conditions.

second thing is expo settings in the app ? turning down the sensitivity on your sticks makes a huge difference for slow cinematic moves. and honestly the biggest thing for me was just slowing WAY down. like slower than you think is slow. when i started flying at like 30-40% of what felt natural the footage immediately looked more intentional. also cine mode if you havent tried it, it limits your max speed and smooths out inputs automatically.

yeah what the other person said about ND filters is huge, i ignored that for way too long and it made a massive difference once i got a set. also dont sleep on just slowing your video down in post even like 80% speed can smooth things out a lot if you shot at 60fps
