yeah so this has been bugging me for a while and i just want to vent a bit. was out at yellowstone last week, knew drones were banned in national parks, i did know that, but i figured id at least get a couple shots from the pullout area just outside the park boundary before putting it away. ranger came over almost immediately, dude must have been watching. he was actually pretty chill about it and didnt fine me or anything but he made me pack it up and wanted to see where i was standing relative to the boundary. honestly fair enough. just frustrating because the light was perfect. anyway moral of the story is even right outside the boundary they are watching, at least at busy parks

national park rangers have gotten way more aggressive about this the last couple years. had a similar thing in zion, wasnt even flying just had the case out and someone reported me lol. the no drone rule is one of the stricter ones they actually enforce

wait so you were technically outside the park though? like on public land or a road pullout? thats kind of a grey area i thought, did he have any actual authority there or was he just being territorial. not saying you did anything wrong just curious how that works
