weird jello effect showing up in my Air 2S footage, only sometimes

  • Members

okay so this has been driving me nuts for a few weeks. getting that rolling shutter jello wobble in some of my clips but not all of them and i cant figure out the pattern. it doesnt seem to be wind related because ive had it happen on calm days too. im pretty sure my gimbal is fine, it moves normally when i check it and there's no obvious damage from any crashes (havent had any bad ones anyway).

shooting in 4k 30 most of the time, have the shutter set to double the frame rate like youre supposed to. using the stock ND filters that came with the fly more combo. not sure what else would cause this, someone told me it might be the propellers but they look fine to me visually. any ideas what to check

propellers was actually my first thought too even if they look okay visually. even a tiny nick or imbalance you cant see with the naked eye can cause vibration that shows up in footage. i'd try a fresh set and see if it changes anything, they're cheap enough that its worth ruling out. also worth checking if the gimbal dampeners (those little rubber grommets) are still in good shape, they can degrade over time especially if the drone has been stored in heat.

the other thing i'd ask ? are you using any 3rd party NDs? even the fly more ones can sometimes cause issues if they're not seated perfectly flush. had a similar thing happen to a buddy of mine and it turned out one of his filters was ever so slightly warped and creating vibration at certain speeds.

check your EIS settings too, sometimes electronic image stabilization can actually make jello worse in certain situations, kind of counterintuitive but ive seen it. also what firmware are you on? there was a period a while back where a specific firmware version had some gimbal stabilization weirdness on the 2S, might be worth looking that up on the DJI forums to see if your version is mentioned
