so this is kind of random but I post my footage on instagram sometimes, nothing serious just a hobby account maybe 400 followers, and I was out flying at the reservoir this morning and some guy walks up and goes "hey are you the drone guy from instagram" and I genuinely did not know how to respond to that

turned out he lives nearby and had seen some of my clips from that same spot. we ended up talking for like 45 minutes about gear and local spots and stuff. pretty cool actually, didnt expect the drone thing to lead to meeting people in real life

thats actually really cool. ive had people come up to me while flying but usually its either someone telling me im not allowed to be there (sometimes right sometimes wrong) or someone asking if its a dji. never had someone recognize me from footage before

The drone community is surprisingly small when you get down to it. Especially if you're filming specific local areas, there's like a handful of people doing it in any given region and eventually you all kind of find each other. I've met most of the serious fliers in my area just from being out at the same spots repeatedly. Some of them have become genuinely good friends so yeah, don't undersell the social side of this hobby.
