random thought - do you tell people you meet that you fly drones

so this came up at a bbq last weekend, someone asked what my hobbies were and i mentioned drones and the reaction was kind of weird, like half the people got a little cagey about it. one guy literally asked if i fly over peoples houses which like, no, come on. i dont know i kind of regret bringing it up sometimes, theres still this weird public perception thing happening. do you guys just say photography or videography instead to avoid the whole thing or what

yeah ive started saying aerial photography and it goes over way smoother. drone word just triggers something in people, they immediately think surveillance or whatever. its kind of frustraing but also just not worth the conversation at a party

Honestly I just lean into it now. Most people come around once you show them some footage on your phone. The ones who dont probably werent going to anyway. Had a neighbor who was super weird about it for like a year, then I showed her the video I got of her house from a distance and she literally asked me to fly over her garden for her. People just dont know what they dont know.
