flying in iceland next month — any tips?

so im heading to iceland in about 5 weeks and obviously bringing the mini 3. ive been reading about the rules there and its honestly kind of confusing. like some sites say you need to register, some say you dont if youre under 250g, and then theres the whole thing about national parks being restricted. anyone actually flown there recently and can tell me what the deal is?

also wondering about the wind. ive seen some footage and it looks insane, guessing i should just keep an eye on the weather apps more than usual. any spots people would recommend around the ring road area?

went last summer with my air 2s and honestly the wind is no joke. there were days i just kept it grounded because gusty doesnt even cover it. the highland areas especially — one minute its calm and then a gust comes out of nowhere. the mini 3 should handle it ok but just be ready to abort if it starts fighting too hard to hold position.

as for registration, i did it through the icelandic transport authority website before i left. took like 10 minutes and i dont think it cost anything. definitely worth doing just to avoid any hassle. vatnajokull area is technically restricted a lot of places so double check on the b4ufly equivalent they have there before you just launch.

skogafoss and seljalandsfoss are obvious picks but get there early, like sunrise early, otherwise theres tourists everywhere and youll be dodging people the whole time. the light is also insane at golden hour which lasts forever in summer lol
