honestly i'd rent before committing to anything. i did a two day rental on an I3 earlier this year through a local house and it answered basically every question i had. the dual operator mode is slick
so ive been running an Inspire 2 with the Zenmuse X7 for about 4 years now doing mostly commercial work, some real estate but mostly short-form doc stuff and the occasional music video. thing has been an absolute workhorse but im starting to wonder if im leaving quality on the table compared to what clients are expecting now.
the X7 is still genuinely impressive glass dont get me wrong, 6K CinemaDNG when the licensing is sorted is hard to argue with. but ive had two potential clients this year ask specifically about Inspire 3 or ask if i shoot on something "newer" which like... that shouldnt matter but it clearly does to them.
my main hesitation with going Inspire 3 is the cost obviously, and also ive heard mixed things about the workflow with Zenmuse X9 footage. anybody actually cutting X9 RAW day to day in Resolve? is the file management as annoying as people say or is that overblown. genuinely just trying to figure out if i upgrade the body or sink that money into lighting and audio gear instead since thats probably where my productions actually suffer
