finally picked up an EVO Nano+ after months of debating ? some thoughts

  • Members

so i've been going back and forth between the Mini 3 Pro and the EVO Nano+ for probably four months now, reading every comparison thread i could find, and i finally just pulled the trigger on the Nano+ last week. figured id share some impressions since i was in the same boat as a lot of people here.

first thing i noticed is the build feels really solid for something this small. like it doesn't feel cheap at all, which i was honestly a little worried about since Autel doesn't have the same hype machine behind it that DJI does. the 1/1.28 sensor is no joke either ? low light footage is way better than i expected at this price point.

the Sky app has been... fine? it works, hasn't crashed on me, but it does feel a little clunky compared to what i've seen of DJI Fly on my buddy's drone. not a dealbreaker but its noticeable. also still figuring out all the obstacle avoidance settings, im not totally sure if i have everything configured right to be honest.

anyone else running the Nano+? curious what ND filters you're using, the ones that came in the kit seem okay but wondering if theres better options out there

congrats on the purchase, the Nano+ is a genuinely underrated little machine. i ran one for about six months before upgrading to the Lite+. on the ND filter question ? i ended up going with the Freewell filters and they've been solid. the Autel branded ones are fine but a bit pricey for what you get, and Freewell makes a kit specifically for the Nano+ that covers most of your bases. the only thing id say is make sure you're on the latest firmware before you mess too much with the obstacle avoidance stuff, there was an update a while back that made it noticeably better and more responsive. the Sky app i agree is clunky but you kind of get used to it, and honestly it's gotten better over the last year or so compared to where it started.

im also a Nano+ owner and yeah the low light thing is real, i was genuinely surprised the first time i shot at dusk. one thing i'll mention is battery life ? make sure you're storing the batteries at storage charge if you're not flying for a few weeks, i learned that the hard way and killed one of mine pretty early on. also the orange color is either gonna be your favorite thing or drive you nuts depending on how you feel about standing out at the park lol
