my quad just feels sluggish no matter what i do to the PIDs, somethings off

so this has been bugging me for a while and i cant figure it out. running a 4in1 45amp ESC, F722 flight controller, 2306 motors on 6s. nothing exotic. flashed betaflight 4.4 a couple weeks ago and ever since the quad just feels... mushy i guess? like the rolls are slow to initiate and when i do a quick snap it just doesnt feel crisp. before the update it was way more responsive.

ive tried bumping P gains, tried lowering D, tried messing with the master multiplier but nothing really fixes it. blackbox shows what looks like pretty normal traces to me but im not great at reading it so maybe im missing something obvious. rates are the same as before, nothing changed on the transmitter side.

also worth mentioning i did change props around the same time, went from HQProp 5x4.8x3 to some azure power props a friend gave me. could that be it? wouldnt have thought prop brand would make that huge a difference but maybe im wrong.

yeah the props are almost certainly a big part of it honestly. different props have totally different thrust curves and pitch response, its not just about pitch and diameter. azure powers are decent but they fly differently from HQs, usually a bit more loaded feeling on the initial input. try going back to your old props just to isolate the variable before you keep chasing PID settings, otherwise youre tuning for the wrong baseline.

also when you went to 4.4 did you do a full diff all and redo your rates and filters or did you just flash over your existing config? because some of the filter defaults changed between versions and that can absolutely cause the mushy feeling youre describing, especially if RPM filter settings got reset or your motor poles arent configured right.

check your dshot settings too. had something similar and it turned out dshot300 had gotten set instead of dshot600 somehow after a flash. quad felt like it was flying through mud. took me embarrassingly long to find it.
