ok so this finally happened to me after years of traveling with gear. coming back through miami from colombia and the customs guy flagged my bag because of the lipo batteries. i had 4 mavic batteries and 2 for the goggles all in my carry on like youre supposed to but he was convinced i needed some kind of special declaration or form. we went back and forth for like 20 minutes.
turns out he just didnt really know the rules himself and eventually a supervisor came over and cleared everything up immediately. but it was stressful and made me miss my connection. i always thought as long as theyre under 100wh and in the cabin youre fine, and i was right, but just be prepared for someone at the checkpoint to not know that. thinking about printing out the TSA/FAA guidelines and keeping them in my bag now just in case
