okay so hear me out because i know this sounds like im overcomplicating things. running TBS crossfire on my 5 inch freestyle build and for 90 percent of what i do its completely fine, i mean crossfire is already absurd for range. but i had two weird disconnects last month flying near a sports stadium on a game day and i got to thinking about high RF noise environments and whether a booster actually does anything meaningful when you're already on a system like crossfire or if its basically diminishing returns.

i know some guys run the crossfire micro TX with a booster and claim it helps in congested areas specifically, not for raw range but for cutting through interference. cant find a lot of real world data on it though, most of the youtube stuff is just people flying in the middle of nowhere and going 30km out which isnt really the use case im asking about

honestly in a genuinely congested RF environment a booster isnt gonna magically fix interference issues the same way it extends range in clean air. crossfire's FHSS is already doing a lot of the heavy lifting for you in crowded spectrum. what helps more in stadium-type situations is antenna placement and orientation, making sure your diversity antennas on the receiver arent both oriented the same way and that you're not blocking them with carbon fiber or a battery.

that said ive never tried a booster specifically in that context so maybe someone who has can give you a more direct answer. just wouldnt be my first thing to throw money at

the stadium thing is tricky, thats a LOT of phones and wifi hotspots and god knows what else all in one place. i actually had crossfire drop on me once near a big outdoor concert, only like 400m out which should have been nothing. never figured out exactly why but it reconnected fast enough that i didnt lose the aircraft. if you're regularly flying near venues like that it might be worth looking at what frequency your TX module is set to and experimenting a bit rather than adding hardware
