so ive been trying to get authorization to fly about 3 miles from a regional airport, nothing crazy, just want to get some shots of this old grain elevator near my house. every time i submit through aloft it just comes back denied instantly. i dont really understand why because the area doesnt look that restricted on the map, its just yellow not red or anything. am i doing something wrong or is this just how it works sometimes? i have my part 107 so its not like im some random person who doesnt know what theyre doing, ive just never had a request denied before and i cant figure out what the next step is supposed to be

yellow doesnt always mean you can get instant approval, some of those zones have a 0ft ceiling by default which means LAANC cant auto-approve anything there regardless of what altitude you request. you basically have to go through the FAA DroneZone portal and submit a manual waiver which takes way longer, like weeks sometimes. its annoying but thats the process when the facility has flagged that grid square as restricted. worth double checking what the actual ceiling is in that specific grid on the B4UFLY app because aloft sometimes doesnt show you the full picture
