so anyway i finally dragged myself out to one of these local drone meetups and idk, it was fine i guess. the location was great, big open field, nice weather. but it felt like half the people there just wanted to show off their builds and talk specs the whole time and not actually fly much. i got maybe 4 or 5 good batteries in which felt low for a 4 hour event. maybe i just picked the wrong one? the organizer seemed cool but the whole thing felt a bit unorganized. not complaining really just wasnt quite what i pictured. anyone else feel this way after their first one or does it get better when you know people

yeah the first one is always weird. once you start recognizing faces it gets way more fun. half those guys standing around talking are just nervous flyers anyway, they spend more on gear than air time

honestly kind of depends on the group. some meetups are basically just a social thing with drones as the excuse and others are more focused on actual flying. i went to one that was basically a 3 hour

honestly kind of depends on the group. some meetups are basically just a social thing with drones as the excuse and others are more focused on actual flying. i went to one that was basically a 3 hour gear swap meet with maybe 20 minutes of actual flight time. found a different group after that and its completely diffrent vibe, people are in the air constantly. might just take a couple tries to find your people
