mini 4 pro firmware update bricked my RC2 controller or something ? screen keeps flickering

  • Members

not sure if bricked is the right word but something is definitely wrong. pushed the firmware update two days ago, the one that came through the DJI Fly app, and ever since my RC2 screen has this weird flicker on the left side of the display. its not constant but it happens every few minutes and its super distracting when im trying to monitor telemetry.

the drone itself seems fine honestly, flies normal, video feed looks good. its just the controller screen. ive done a cache clear on the app, restarted everything multiple times, even did a re-link of the controller to the aircraft which i read somewhere might help. nothing.

before i go down the rabbit hole of trying to roll back firmware ? which i know is its own headache with DJI ? has anyone seen this specific issue or is my RC2 just dying on me. its only 8 months old so that would be pretty annoying.

Had almost the exact same thing happen to my RC2 after an update a while back, though mine was more of a greenish tint on one edge rather than a flicker. Ended up just being a weird software glitch that actually resolved itself after the next firmware pushed through about two weeks later. Not super helpful if you need it fixed now but might be worth just waiting it out before doing anything drastic with rollbacks.

That said if its physically flickering and not just a color issue you might want to log a ticket with DJI support anyway just to have it documented. If the screen is actually failing they'll want a record of when it started.

rolling back DJI firmware is such a pain i feel for you. last time i tried it i had to use the DJI assistant 2 desktop app and even then it was kind of a mess. theres a thread somewhere on RCGroups that walks through it but i cant remember which section its buried in. worth searching before you try to wing it.

also random but did you check if the flickering happens when the screen brightness is set to max vs lower settings? my RC2 does something slightly weird at max brightness in direct sun but thats probably unrelated to your thing.
