flying in national parks abroad — what's the actual deal

so im heading to iceland in about 6 weeks and obviously bringing the mini 3 pro. ive been reading conflicting stuff online about where you can and cant fly. some people say highland areas are totally fine, others say you need permits for basically everything near protected land. anyone actually been there recently and flown without getting hassled?

also wondering if the wind situation is as bad as people say. ive flown in pretty gusty conditions before but iceland seems like a whole different thing from what ive heard

went last september, flew near jokulsarlon without any issues but i did check the icelandic transport authority website before going. there's an app called iceac or something like that, pretty sure you need to register there if you're a foreign pilot. took maybe 10 minutes. highland areas near roads were fine in my experience but i stayed away from the actual nature reserves marked on the map

wind is no joke btw. lost like 40% battery just fighting gusts near the glacier lagoon. fly early morning if you can, it calms down a lot
