EVO II Pro keeps losing connection to controller, happened twice now

  • Members

so this has been bugging me for a while and I finally decided to post about it. flying my EVO II Pro, not sure if its the v1 or v2 chassis honestly I bought it used, and twice now mid flight the controller just... disconnects. like the feed cuts out and the drone hovers and then eventually comes back to me on return to home which thank god works but its scary every time.

both times it happened I was maybe 800 feet out, not even pushing range. first time I thought maybe my phone was the issue but second time I was using a different phone and same thing. its not a low battery situation either. I updated the firmware before the second flight thinking that would fix it but nope.

anyone dealt with this? I dont want to keep flying it if its gonna do this, kinda defeats the purpose you know

Check the antennas on your controller first, sounds obvious but if it was bought used someone might have bumped or loosened them. Also the EVO II has known issues with 2.4ghz interference in congested areas, try switching to 5.8ghz in the Sky app settings if you havent already. The auto frequency selection doesnt always pick the best option in my experience.

Also worth checking if the USB cable connecting your phone to the controller is seated properly, a loose connection there can cause all sorts of weird behavior that looks like a signal issue but isnt. I had something similar a while back and it was literally just a worn out cable.

ive heard the EVO II can be picky about which phones work well with it too. some android versions have background process stuff that interrupts the app. do you know what phone you were using the second time? and was the Autel Sky app fully updated because there was a version a few months back that had connection stability problems, they patched it but only if you manually updated
