anyone else feel like their footage looks way worse after editing??

this has been bugging me for a while and i dont totally understand whats happening. i fly, the footage on the drone looks great on the little preview and even playing raw on my laptop. but then i throw it in premiere, do some basic cuts and color stuff, export and it looks kinda flat and soft compared to before. not sure if its an export settings thing or what im doing in the color panel

shooting 4k 30fps on the air 2s, exporting at 1080 usually because my machine cant really handle 4k timeline smoothly. could that be causing it? or am i messing something up in the grade

yeah almost certainly your export settings. premiere has a habit of defaulting to stuff thats not great if you dont manually set the bitrate. try using h264 with vbr 2 pass and set target around 40mbps for 1080, makes a noticeable difference. also check that your sequence settings match your source footage, mismatched sequence is a classic one that softens everything

honestly same problem when i started, spent like 3 weeks thinking my air 2s footage was bad until someone told me about the lumetri sharpening slider being weirdly aggressive on some presets, was actually over-sharpening and making it look worse. might not be your issue but worth checking. the export bitrate thing the other guy mentioned is probably the main culprit tho
