group flights are kind of a mess tbh

so anyway went to my first actual organized fly-in thing last month and it was fun dont get me wrong but there was this weird moment where like 6 people were all in the air at the same time and nobody really coordinated anything. one guy almost had a mid-air with someones fpv quad coming low and fast around the corner of the field. the hosts were great people but i think these things need some kind of basic briefing before everyone just launches. or maybe that's just how it always is and im overthinking it

nah you're not overthinking it, that stuff can go sideways real fast especially when fpv guys are mixed in with LOS flyers who have no idea someones about to scream past at 80mph. the better clubs do a quick safety brief before anything goes up, even just 5 minutes to say hey here's the flight corridor, here's where fpv is operating, that kind of thing. sounds like the one you went to just hadnt figured that out yet

tbh the one near me is pretty disorganized too but ive never had anything close to an incident, might just depend on the crowd. still sketchy though if theres faster quads mixed in with people who are barely looking up from their controller screens
