dropped my mini 3 pro harder than i would have liked last weekend, hit a slope and it kind of tumbled. drone itself is fine, props were fine, but now the gimbal has this persistent drift to the right during video. not like a roll drift, more like the yaw is slowly creeping. its subtle but once you see it in footage you cant unsee it.

ive done the gimbal auto calibration in the dji app like four times. first time it seemed like it helped a tiny bit but then it came back. the gimbal arm doesnt look bent or cracked, ribbon cable looks okay visually. im not sure if theres something internal in the gimbal motor that got knocked loose or if the calibration just cant compensate for whatever physically shifted.

i know the proper answer is probably send it to dji but i was curious if anyone has actually opened one of these up and fixed something like this themselves. or if there is some calibration sequence i might not know about.

yeah been there. after a tumble the gimbal IMU can get confused or the little dampeners that isolate the gimbal from the frame can shift or compress unevenly and that causes exactly this kind of drift where calibration doesnt fully fix it. on older DJI stuff you could sometimes reseat the dampening balls and it would sort itself out. on the mini 3 its a bit fiddlier to get into.

honestly if its still under care refresh id just use it, the repair cost without care for gimbal damage is usually brutal. if you open it yourself and something goes wrong thats your warranty done.

i had a similar thing happen on my air 2s, not from a crash but just showed up one day. what actually fixed it for me was doing the calibration but making sure the drone was on a completely flat surface and not moving at all during the process, like even a table that has slight vibration from a fan nearby can mess with it apparently. probably not your issue since yours is crash related but might be worth trying again with that in mind if you havent already. also someone told me cold temperatures can make it worse right after startup so let it warm up a bit before calibrating.
