group flight went kind of sideways yesterday

so we had maybe 8 or 9 pilots all flying at the same time over the field and at some point two of the quads got way too close and one guy panicked and just cut his throttle which, yeah. drone came down hard in the long grass and took some propeller damage but nothing major i guess. thing is nobody really talked about how we were gonna coordinate before we started flying, we all just kind of launched whenever. probably need a better system for these group things because it got chaotic fast especially when someobdy new showed up midway through and just took off without saying anything to anyone

yeah this is why most organized fly-ins have a safety briefing before anything goes up. even just like 5 minutes of hey here's the flight zone, here's altitude limits, land before the next guy launches type stuff. sounds annoying but it makes a huge difference when you've got a bunch of people in the air at once

cutting throttle mid air is such a panic move, ive seen it happen twice now. the instinct makes sense but its almost always the wrong call. glad nothing worse happened though, 8+ drones in a small field with no coordination is kind of a recipe for exactly this
