flying in Iceland next month, any tips? first time taking the drone abroad

so ive been planning this trip to Iceland for like 6 months and only just started thinking about the drone rules there and im kind of freaking out a bit. bringing my mini 3 pro and i keep reading conflicting stuff online about where you can and cant fly. some sites say you need to register, others say under 250g is fine, but then there are national parks and i have no idea which ones are off limits.

also just general tips would be helpful, like how do you guys pack the batteries for the flight, do the airlines ever give you grief about it? last time i flew domestically with my gear nobody cared but international feels different somehow

Iceland is actually pretty reasonable compared to a lot of places. the main thing is ?ingvellir national park is a no-fly zone, dont even bother trying. and honestly most of the touristy waterfall spots like Sk?gafoss and Seljalandsfoss get super crowded and theres usually rangers around so just be smart about timing, early morning is your friend.

for batteries i always carry them in my carry-on in a lipo safe bag and have never had an issue on any airline. just dont put them in checked luggage, thats the one rule that actually matters. keep them under 100wh each which the mini 3 batteries are anyway so youre fine

went last summer with my air 2s and it was incredible honestly. just download the icelandic transport authority app or check their website before you go, they have maps of restricted zones. the highlands are pretty open if you get out there. wind was my biggest issue, gusts came out of nowhere near the coast and i nearly had a bad day near Dyrh?laey so just keep an eye on the forecast like every hour not just in the morning
