yeah the NPS thing is brutal. i gave up trying to fly anywhere near a national park in the states, its just not worth the hassle or the fine risk. i stick to BLM land now which is way more chill as lo

wait so in switzerland do you need any kind of license or registration? im planning a trip there in the fall and i have my part 107 but i dont think that transfers over does it
so i just got back from a trip where i flew in both switzerland and then yellowstone area and man the rules couldnt be more different. in switzerland i found this random ridge above lauterbrunnen valley, basically no one around, checked the local apps and it was fine to fly so i just went for it. got some insane footage of the waterfalls and alps and nobody said a word to me the whole time.
then yellowstone - i knew going in that NPS doesnt allow drones basically anywhere inside the park boundaries but i figured id at least fly just outside the park near some pull-offs on the highway. ranger came over within like 10 minutes. was super nice about it actually but still told me to pack it up. i wasnt even in the park. honestly still not 100% sure where the exact boundary was so maybe she was right.
anyway if anyones planning europe travel with a drone just do your research per country because its genuinely so much more accessible in a lot of places than the US national park system
