DJI's new release announcement ? anyone else kind of underwhelmed?

  • Members

so i was watching the stream yesterday and i dunno, maybe i had my expectations too high but the whole thing felt like a spec bump more than anything genuinely new. like the obstacle avoidance improvements are nice i guess but they were already pretty solid on the previous gen. the price jump is what's really getting me.

also did anyone catch the part about the updated geofencing integration? im not sure if thats a firmware thing thats rolling out to older models too or just locked to the new hardware. the wording in the press stuff was super vague about it. would love to know before i decide whether to upgrade or just sit this one out.

not trying to be all doom and gloom about it, i just feel like the last two or three releases have been more iterative than exciting. curious what everyone else thinks or if i missed something that actually matters

honestly yeah, same feeling here. i went back and watched it again thinking maybe id missed something and nope, pretty much what it looked like the first time. the sensor upgrade is real and measurable but unless youre doing professional work where that 1/1.3 inch difference actually shows up in your deliverables its hard to justify the price.

on the geofencing thing ? i saw someone on reddit saying it's hardware dependent because of a new chip but i wouldnt take that as confirmed yet. probably worth waiting for the teardown videos before assuming either way. those usually answer the questions the official stuff wont.

im pretty new to all this so maybe not the best person to weigh in but from where im standing even the "boring" upgrade looks impressive to me lol. the wind resistance spec alone would've saved me a couple sketchy moments last month. guess it depends a lot on where youre coming from
