so ive been flying for about two years now and i keep hearing people talk about these group fly-in events but i genuinely have no idea how to find them. like is there a website or something or is it all just word of mouth through local clubs? i found one through my states AMA chapter last year and it was honestly one of the best days ive had flying. met a ton of people, got to see some insane fixed wing stuff i wouldnt normally see at my local field. just want to find more of that kind of thing this summer. ohio/indiana area mainly but id probably drive a few hours for a good one

the AMA event finder is honestly your best bet, they list sanctioned fly-ins and its pretty regularly updated. but also just join facebook groups for your local area, thats how i find like 80% of the stuff i actually end up going to. there's a big one in northern indiana every august, cant remember who hosts it but it gets a decent turnout and they usually have a swap meet going on the side which is half the reason i go lol

yeah same experience here, word of mouth gets you further than any website. i just started talking to people at my local club and suddenly i had 4 events on my calendar i didnt even know existed. also rcgroups sometimes has regional threads worth checking
