ok so i finally dragged myself to one of those local drone meetup things after seeing it posted on the club facebook page like three times. i mostly fly freestyle on my own so i wasnt sure id fit in with a bunch of guys flying photography drones around a field. and yeah it was a little awkward at first because i showed up with my 5 inch and everyone else had like mavics and stuff and i got a few weird looks when i fired up the motors lol. but then one of the older guys came over and started asking me about it and we ended up just talking for two hours. dude had been flying fixed wing for 30 years and knew more about airspace and weather reading than anyone ive ever met. so i dunno, worth going even if your setup doesnt really match the crowd

this is exactly how it goes honestly. the "weird looks" thing is so real when you show up with something that sounds like an angry wasp compared to everyone elses quiet little camera drones. but in my experience the fixed wing and old school RC guys are almost always the most interesting people to talk to. they've seen everything come and go

thats really cool actually. im a bit nervouse about going to stuff like this because i only have a mini 3 and feel like id be the boring one there. maybe ill just go anyway
